Abstract

This case study examines the growth journey and operational challenges of XYZ Bakeline, a bakery business operating in Sargodha, Pakistan. Established as a small local bakery, XYZ Bakeline aimed to serve affordable baked goods while maintaining acceptable quality standards in a competitive local market. As customer demand increased, the business faced growing pressure related to production planning, quality consistency, workforce management, and cost control. The case highlights how limited operational systems, informal decision-making, and delayed process formalization affected service quality and operational efficiency. It provides students with an opportunity to analyze how small food businesses in emerging markets struggle to balance growth, quality, and operational discipline.
